Fall for Inclusion | Vol. 1 No. 4

October: Harvesting Inclusion

As autumn deepens, we’re leaning into the heart of the season — with purpose, creativity, and connection. After a September rooted in action and belonging, October invites us to reflect, recognize, and recommit. “Fall for Inclusion” is our theme this month, inspired by key observances like World Inclusion Day, Invisible Disabilities Week, and Disability Employment Awareness Month and our popular “Fall for All” shirts and colouring book.

It’s a call to elevate voices that are often overlooked and to celebrate the power of inclusive design, storytelling, and employment.

We’re continuing our Fall for All line, but it ends soon — don’t miss out — and gearing up for our Holiday Drop at the end of the month. Big things are coming, and we’re so glad you’re part of it.

Fall For Inclusion

This month’s theme didn’t come easily — and that’s exactly why it matters. At The Ability Company, we spent time reflecting on October’s observances, from World Inclusion Day to Invisible Disabilities Week to Disability Employment Awareness Month. Each one shines a light on different aspects of the inclusion journey. But what ties them all together is a simple truth: inclusion is the thread that holds meaningful change together.

So we landed on “Fall for Inclusion” — a theme that’s more than seasonal wordplay. It’s a call to action. A reminder that inclusion isn’t just about visibility, it’s about intentionality. It’s about recognizing the value of every person, especially those whose challenges and contributions are often overlooked.

This October, we’re celebrating:

  • October 10 – World Inclusion Day: A global moment to recommit to inclusive practices in every space we occupy.

  • October 19–25 – Invisible Disabilities Week: A chance to elevate awareness and empathy for conditions that aren’t always seen but deeply felt.

  • All Month – Disability Employment Awareness Month: A time to honor the talent, resilience, and innovation of disabled professionals — and to push for more inclusive hiring and workplace design.

At The Ability Company, inclusion is not a checkbox — it’s our blueprint. Whether we’re designing branded merch, supporting caregivers, or advocating for employment equity, we’re building a future where everyone belongs.

We hope you’ll join us in falling for inclusion — and rising to meet the moment.

Quote of the Month

Journal of the Month: Fall for Inclusion: Why Employment Still Feels Out of Reach

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month — and while the conversation is growing, the barriers are still real. In this honest and deeply personal blog, our founder shares what employment looks like through the lens of living with Cerebral Palsy: the challenges of interviews, inaccessible spaces, and job postings that weren’t written with disabled applicants in mind.

I don’t think differently. I’ve just always felt like no one would give me a chance — not because I don’t have something to offer, but because the world isn’t built to see my value.”

From creating her own businesses as a teen to leading The Ability Company today, this piece is a powerful reminder that inclusion must be intentional — not just in words, but in hiring practices, workplace design, and everyday decisions.
