A Legacy Worth Tending

Some people leave behind a legacy that doesn’t need explanation. It’s felt — in how they made others feel welcome, grounded, and connected. Joshua Andrew Beer lived that kind of legacy.

As we spend May tending our mental gardens, Josh’s life reminds us that connection itself can be a form of care. His presence invited people to slow down, to listen differently, and to recognize that understanding isn’t limited to words. The joy and connection he shared continues to ripple outward, long after the moment has passed.

This month also marks a meaningful milestone for us. Josh’s story is being honoured as the very first drop in our Collaborations Limited Edition — a collection rooted in shared stories, community, and purpose. This collaboration is one close to our hearts as Jennifer, co‑owner of The Ability Company, worked with Josh for over 10 years, making deeply personal and meaningful in a way that goes beyond words. The official launch is going live on May 8, what would have been Josh’s 40th birthday.

Rather than being a limited moment, this collaboration will remain available throughout 2026, allowing his legacy to continue growing over time. 100% profit from this drop will be donated directly to the Make‑A‑Wish Foundation, chosen by Josh’s pltarents in gratitude for the joy and memories Make‑A‑Wish gifted their family.

In this drop, available in both adult and kids t‑shirts and only in Carolina blue, the design tells Josh’s story through a simple yet powerful tic‑tac‑toe grid. The design itself was created in collaboration with Josh’s parents, ensuring his story is shared in a way that truly reflects his life, his spirit, and the connections that mattered most. Josh lived by the heart of Live. Laugh. Love. and connected with people in ways that went far beyond words, reminding us that connection truly matters. Each square represents relationships, shared moments, and the way caregivers, family, and friends became part of his circle, while the heart at the centre reflects the love he gave and received (see it on our website). And if you look closely, the inner squares spell JOSH, with each word showing how he connected — through presence, listening, laughter, and love — leaving behind a legacy that proves every connection, no matter how it’s expressed, matters.

During Mental Heah Awareness Month, we’re reminded that tending our mental garden doesn’t always happen alone. Sometimes it happens through honouring lives that shaped us, through shared stories, and through connections that continue to nurture us even after loss.

This collaboration is one way Josh’s legacy continues — rooted in connection, care, and the belief that every life leaves an impact worth tending.
